Day 31 & 32 – Adios Colombia & Hola Bolivia

This is becoming a regular story but once again we had left our night of partying to the last night in one destination and so we had some hungover travel ahead of us. We were up and out to a cafe just along the street from our hostel for some grub and a coffee to set us straight.

We had the best two weeks in Colombia and would have loved to stay longer but it was onwards to Bolivia 🇧🇴

Originally we had planned to spend some time in Santa Cruz but due to timings for our tours to both Uyuni Salt Flats and The Amazon we had to change things up and head straight to La Paz, this meant an extra flight onto this bit of the trip.

From Cartagena we flew to Bogota, then onto Santa Cruz where we got the first flight possible to La Paz. All in all we had about 18hours of travel to get us there but we were glad to arrive when we did.

We used the Wild Rover as our base for La Paz and freshened up there before taking a walk through the city.

We were blown away by just how big and busy the city was. We walked up through the old town and stopped in at a museum with some ‘interesting’ art, then down the tourist section known as the witches market.

There’s nothing can prepare you for seeing about a hundred baby Llamas hanging from the shop fronts! Not a sight we wanted to see. The markets that followed however were good and there was lots of stalls to work our way through.

We grabbed some food at Cafe del Mundo then headed back to grab our stuff from the hostel. We then headed on an overnight bus to Uyuni that evening to start our three day Salt Flats tour the next morning.

Although we had only one day in La Paz we had planned things so that we would be back again to do some more things around the city.

G&L xx
