We finished up in Salento by walking around all the local markets in the morning and tasting some more local coffee on the main square. The markets and streets were very colourful and cute, I enjoyed the coffee more than the shops.

We jumped on a bus early afternoon and headed to Medillin, the bus should have taken just 6 hours but unfortunately we were on it for nearer to 8hours and so we missed out on an evening in Medillin as we arrived very late and knackered.
We were staying in El Poblado which is well known for being the tourists capital of Medillin and it didn’t take us long to find a nice spot just off the main square the next morning for breakfast.

After walking around El Poblado, which was basically like Magaluf or Malia, we decided that we would do the Comuna 13 Tour that afternoon as El Poblado didn’t have loads going for it other than restaurants and bars.
The tour for the afternoon was really good and we saw lots of cool things including some street dancing.

It really surprised us that Comuna 13 was a fully developed tourist attraction rather than a favela tour and it was very safe all afternoon. Not really comparable to Vidigal in Rio but we still really enjoyed the day.

Once we had navigated our way back to the Hostel Laura took the reins for the evening and we were headed to a sustainable veggie restaurant she had picked out. It was about time we did this as I had been enjoying far too many steaks recently.

The food was amazing and Laura was super happy so it was a double win! After we headed to the Dragon Cafe which we had spotted earlier that day and had a few mojitos while the live DJ was on, we were in Shazam non stop because the tunes were all so good!

After probably a few too many for a Sunday we called it a night and headed back to the hostel.
G&L xx
