Today saw us jumping up to go to a local view point called Monserrate. We walked for half an hour or so from the hostel and grabbed a coffee on the way. Our guide the day before assured us there is no such thing as bad coffee in Columbia so we went to the first place we came to and it didn’t disappoint.
Once we arrived at the base of the hill we found out the walking route and the funicular were closed on a Monday so it was the cable car for us, not that we were complaining, I think we’d done enough walking over the past week.
The view from the top was really amazing and let us get an idea of just how wide spread the city really was.

There wasn’t an awful lot to do up there other than admire the view but we enjoyed the cable car and soaked up the sun for a while before heading back down.

After a bit more walking around the main city centre we met up for a bike tour in the afternoon. Now, usually you’d think that on a bike tour there’d be plenty biking but after 4hours we’d done about 6/7km of cycling, eaten about 25 horrific different types of fruits and seen not very much of the city of Bogota. We should probably have been annoyed at this but it was very funny, there seemed to be no clear route we were following and we spent a lot of time dodging the cars and motorbikes on the road.

Probably not one we will be recommending to people… having said all that we did get to stop in at a nice coffee place and see them roasting some beans while we were there.
To finish it off we also got to play a quick game of Tejo and had a beer which was a good laugh.
All in all it was a good final day in Bogota and we were pleasantly surprised by the city.
Back to the hostel, bags packed up and an Uber to the bus terminal to catch our first overnight bus to Salento for a few nights in the coffee region.
G&L xx
