We were up at the crack of dawn to get a head start for the tram to Christ the Redeemer – everyone else also seemed to have the same idea so unfortunately we still had to wait in a very long queue to get to the top haha
Once at the top it was pretty amazing to see Christ the redeemer so close but it was absolutely packed with people and a very random christening service with people posing for photos afterwards despite the crowds.

We had a wee corona at the top as why not before we headed back down on the tram.

The queue once we got to the bottom was even busier than when we arrived so maybe we had beat some of the crowds! After, we headed to Parque Lage which was a Botanical Gardens with a nice cafe. We had some waffles and Icecream and walked around the gardens before strolling to Leblon.

On route we passed through the bigger botanical gardens park which was pretty cool and everywhere we turned there were cool graffiti murals.

After 10km of walking through the gardens and along past a cool practise run for the Carnival which we were missing by a few weeks we finished up at Ipanema beach, the next beach along from Copacabana. The views were amazing and the weather was on point but we’d been on the move flat out since yesterday morning and we were done in!! Time to head home and get ready for dinner.

We’d been recommended a steak restaurant called Carretao which was just round the corner from the hotel and as it had just started pouring we were happy we didn’t need to go far. Gregor was in his element as when we arrived the guy had told us it was an all you can eat buffet with so many salads, sides, breads, sushi and of course the waiters kept coming round and filling your plate with meat until you could eat no more. The wine wasn’t quite the same but the reds were lovely!

Day 2 done!
